In this series I will explore my options for the upcoming year. I will share my take on each of the leading programs i.e. Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott and what my strategy for the upcoming year will ultimately be.

Hotel Loyalty programs have 2 important components: perks and value of program currency. Except for Hyatt’s points I do not care about hotel points since in my experience the value continues to go down the drain every year. I bring this point up because Hilton’s points for me so far have been worthless. The main reason to use points is to get outsized value, but this is not the case with Hilton. Let’s say I want to go to Paris in June. While it’s tricky to find space at Hyatt hotels for families, Hilton and Marriott have at least 6 or 7 hotels that accommodate 3 or more people per room.

The above screenshots don’t need explanation, even when some might argue that it’s a lot easier to earn Hilton points. You can get a Marriott card with 100K points and the best Hilton card I have seen gives you 150K.

What about the perks and customer service?

Although Marriott Bonvoy recently won as best hotel loyalty program, on average have had better experiences at Hilton and Hyatt hotels than at Marriott although I’m a Titanium Elite! I have to stop here for now, but I will take a look at the pros and cons of each program and my final decision in upcoming posts.

What’ your strategy hotel strategy for next year?
