During most of our international trips we had always looked for ways to mitigate not having internet. Until recently, data roaming internationally would mean selling vital organs or taking a second mortgage.
Right before going on vacation, I noticed that now AT&T and Verizon charge $10 to let you use your data, text and voice while away. I’m sure other companies might offer similar or better services. While I did not use this service, this is something that we will definitely use the next time we travel internationally. Having internet wherever we go allows our favorite apps to maximize our time enjoying a new destination. For instance, our new favorite public transit app, Citymapper will help us travel around like locals. The way we see it, those $10 are an great investment especially when compared to what we had to pay until just recently.
