On a previous post, I lamented the fact that my Bose QC 20 died just after the warranty expired. Traveling anywhere on a plane for over a couple of hours can be challenging once one is used to being inside a sound bubble. Noise canceling headphones provide some sort of refuge from the chaotic and noisy plane and airport. I have been using my AirPods, which I absolutely love, but they do not isolate me from crying babies, chatty people sitting around me, the engine noise and the other acoustic unpleasantness. I was ready to buy a pair of Bose QC 35II, but the truth is I have never been a fan, just like I have never been a fan of Sony either. A coupe of weeks ago I briefly played with both headphones. The Bose seem to be the way to go, even after my less than stellar experience with the QC 20. Then, before pulling the trigger, I decided to do some more research beyond the Wirecutter.com. The site tends to make recommendations for the mainstream users or most people. I think there’s nothing wrong with getting the Bose, but after reading lots of review, I ended up going for the Sony WH-1000XM2.
According to reviewers I trust the 1000XM2s offer better noise canceling, sound better and are more customizable. I will be getting my new headphones tomorrow and I will test them extensively. Stay tuned, I will let you know how things go.
