On my previous post, I shared that after over a decade of not flying AA in a few days, I will be forced to return home on an AA flight.

I noticed that upgrading to a better seat or really changing seats it’s about 50% cheaper than on United. I did not find a way to purchase an upgrade to business via the app or AA’s website.

Out of curiosity, I decided to call and ask how much upgrading would cost. Maybe I spoke with the wrong rep, but somehow this person told me that I would have to pay the cost difference between my current flight and business which on such a short flight would be less than $150, but I would also have to pay a $200 change fee.

At that point, I said thanks, and paid $20 on the app for the best available front seat. If this had been a longer flight, I would have bothered to try talking to another rep or get the necessary points to upgrade.
