I have to confess that I’ve never stayed at a Kimpton hotel, but this is such a cool hotel family that I’m a fan based on reputation alone. IHG on the other hand has been a mixed bag for me. To be fare, 3 the 4 times I’ve stayed at IHG hotels has been very good to great. However, I have never been able to get any value out of their rewards program. I consistently rate it at the very bottom with Hilton in terms of points value. That is I can’t never use their points because they don’t have award nights available or they require too many points. When it comes to hotels, IHG is definitely the worst transfer value for Chase UR points. For instance, you could stay 2 nights at the Park Hyatt in New York City for the price in points of one night at the Intercontinental Times Square.

I can not see any upside for consumers now that Kimpton Karma has become IHG Rewards.
