If you travel with some regularity or if you hold the right cards, you will have some kind of elite status at most hotels. Regardless, of the fact that such status would mean free water, breakfast or some kind of welcome fruit basket, I’ve noticed that many veteran travelers do this as soon as they check-in: They locate the nearest drugstore and grab beverages, (healthy) snacks and any item they might have forgotten. This habit is particularly useful when you are staying at a hotel and you do not have any status related benefits available. Sometimes you can’t make it to the lounge before your first meeting. Perhaps the most important thing is that you are being proactive and are now set for the rest of your stay. I have done it during the last few business trips and it’s been great
