In our short experience, London deserves its spot among the world’s greatest cities. From the perspective of an American tourist, the city is easy to navigate, many of the attractions are accessible and free/low cost, and London knows how to treat its visitors. On the negative side, London is one of the most expensive places to visit. It’s hard to get much value when it comes to hotels or flights departing from London’s easier to access airports. Our recommendation would be to stay in an area with a short walk to the Tube and a few stops from main attractions. This is what we did and it made a great difference. Hopefully when you visit you will have at least one sunny day. We would do the City Cruise from the London Bridge area to the Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower. Again, although the Hop On/Off can be good option to see the city especially if you use a promo code and purchase online, the Tube is really the best way to get to know the great city of London and everything it has to offer.
